State Information Technology Society (MSITS) was established in June 28th, 2008
under Section 7(1) of the Manipur Societies Registration Act 1989 (Manipur Act I
of 1990). It is under the administrative control of Department of Information
Technology (DIT), Govt. of Manipur and is the State Designated
Agency/Implementing Agency for all National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) projects in
the State of Manipur.
The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), approved by the Government of India, is a
major countrywide initiative aimed at spreading the benefits of e-Governance to
all citizens. Under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), Government of Manipur
strategically decided to take effective steps for the development of information
system and utilization of information resources and decided to introduce
computer based decision support system in various Government Departments. This
in turn will facilitate planning and program implementation for the growth of
economic and social development.
MSITS envisages to take up activities promoting investments and growth in
Information Technology Industry and encourage private sector initiative in
Information Technology related infrastructure and services so as to increase the
contribution of Information Technology in the economic growth of the State.
MSITS has undertaken the various schemes as a part of National e-Governance Plan
implementation in Manipur:
MSITS has been taking up the schemes for providing adequate infrastructure in
the State so that the Information Technology sector can flourish in state of
Manipur.
